The Rangers aren’t done looking at veteran defensemen.

One week after parting ways with Tomas Kaberle, New York has inked 35-year-old Henrik Tallinder to a professional tryout with its affiliate in AHL Hartford, per TSN.

Tallinder, who was in Toronto’s training camp earlier this fall before suffering a shoulder injury, is a veteran of 678 career NHL contests with the Sabres and Devils. He appeared in 64 games last year for Buffalo, scoring two goals and eight points while averaging 18 minutes per night.

As mentioned above, the Rangers took a similar look at Kaberle earlier in November, giving him a shot with the Wolf Pack before ultimately deciding to pass on making a contract offer. Kaberle has since signed with Kladno of the Czech League.

It’ll be interesting to see if Tallinder can stick with the Blueshirts. The club is looking for some defensive depth in the wake of Ryan McDonagh’s separated shoulder, and assistant coach Scott Arniel knows Tallinder well from their days together in Buffalo (from 2002-06).
