Kind of a strange story out of Detroit, involving the theft of prized memorabilia from Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist:

A woman has pleaded guilty to larceny charges that included the theft of a puck that was the first NHL goal scored by Detroit Red Wings player Gustav Nyquist.

Muskegon resident Amy Lynn Jones, 32, pleaded guilty to larceny by conversion and receiving and concealing stolen property as a fourth felony offender.

Police said the items were then offered for sale in an “unauthorized auction” in October 2012 that included the puck, which is framed next to a photo of the 25-year-old right wing and Sweden native.

According to police, Nyquist is one of 15 victims listed in a rental storage facility scheme, in which employees entered units illegally and took items.

Nyquist, who led Detroit in goals last year with 28, scored his first NHL marker on Mar. 26, 2012 against Columbus. He’s been a prolific sniper since, scoring 37 times in his last 76 games.
