“We had it diagnosed, and decided surgery is the best thing,” Stars GM Jim Nill told The Dallas Morning News. “It’s very similar to what (John) Klingberg had, and we expect it to have similar results.”
Klingberg had the surgery done in the summer and missed the start of the season.
“I didn’t want to do it, I wanted to work on building strength in the summer,” Klingberg said. “But now I feel much better and I am glad I did it.”
Nichushkin has been limited to just four games this season due to nagging hip and groin soreness.
The 19-year-old had 14 goals and 34 points in 79 games during his rookie season with the Stars last year.
Nichushkin was Dallas’ first-round pick (10th overall) in 2013.
