Video: Department of Player Safety explains why MacKinnon will not face supplemental discipline

According to the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, Avs’ forward Nathan MacKinnon had his “Hands on back but no push” when he made contact with Flyers’ defenseman Luke Schenn. As a result, the 19-year-old won’t be facing supplemental discipline.

MacKinnon was assessed a major penalty for boarding for this hit on Saturday:

Schenn left the game favoring his left shoulder and on Sunday the Flyers announced he would miss upto two weeks with an upper body injury.
