Toronto Maple Leafs’ Daniel Winnik appears to have suffered a concussion.
Coach Randy Carlyle said the team is following concussion protocol with the forward.
Winnik hit his head on the ice following a hit from Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda on Thursday night. He left the game on a stretcher and was held out of the Leafs’ 5-4 win over the New York Rangers Saturday night.
The 29-year-old has one goal and seven points in 14 games this season.
Peter Holland, who briefly left Saturday’s game, is expected to play tonight against the Senators. The Leafs recalled Trevor Smith on Sunday as a precaution.
