Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk, who was injured following a collision with L.A. Kings forward Kyle Clifford on Friday night will be evaluated in New York today.

According to a report from Newsday’s Arthur Staple, Boychuk played through the injury in Friday’s 2-1 shootout victory over the Kings.

The injury, which you can see below, occurred late in the second period as Boychuk was receiving a pass in the Islanders’ zone. Clifford was not penalized on the play.

As you can see from the video, Boychuk is clearly suffering from some sort of right leg injury. He did not play Saturday night when the Islanders concluded their five-game road trip with a 1-0 win over the Coyotes.

Boychuk, who leads all Islanders defenseman with an average of 21:57 time on ice through 13 games, was replaced by Brian Strait in Arizona.

New York plays host to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.
