News and notes from the blue paint...

Lucky 13?

Cory Schneider is making up for lost time.

Stuck behind Roberto Luongo in Vancouver, then Martin Brodeur in New Jersey, Schneider has taken his first opportunity as a clear-cut No. 1 netminder and run with it -- tonight, he’ll start his 13th consecutive game when the Devils take on the Blues in St. Louis.

As you’d expect from his workhorse load, Schneider leads all NHL goalies in appearances and minutes played. He also ranks third in saves, with 354, trailing only Jonathan Quick and Semyon Varlamov.

Tonight, he’ll take on the goalie that bested him on Tuesday: Jake Allen, who stopped all 26 shots faced in a 1-0 decision two nights ago.
