Some (gasp) good Columbus injury news: No surgery for Wisniewski

Contrary to mounting recent evidence, bad Columbus Blue Jackets injury news apparently isn’t an immutable law of nature.

There was actually a positive update on that front this morning, as it appears that James Wisniewski won’t need surgery on his fractured finger, according to the Columbus Dispatch’s Aaron Portzline.

Wisniewski, 30, has three assists in nine games. He hasn’t been able to score a tally yet in 2014-15 despite 28 shots on goal, but Wisniewski is the versatile sort of blueliner the Blue Jackets could really use right now. He brings an edge to his game while showing some serious scoring touch.

It’s unclear when he’ll be back - the latest word was that it might not be this week - but any semblance of good news seems like a welcome change of pace for Columbus right now.
