There was a time when it looked like Adam Larsson would be a major part of the New Jersey Devils’ future. He’s struggled to find his way with the New Jersey Devils, but he was the hero in tonight’s 3-2 victory over Columbus.

After being taken with the fourth overall pick in 2011, he’s bounced between the minors and NHL. This season he’s stuck with the Devils, but has spent most of his time serving as a healthy scratch. He didn’t even make his season debut until Oct. 21 and Saturday’s contest was just his third of 2014-15.

Maybe he finally hit a turning point though as he launched the shot past Blue Jackets goaltender Anton Forsberg that earned the Devils’ two points tonight:

“It was huge for me,” Larsson said, per the Star-Ledger’s Rich Chere. “Good for my confidence.”

One man’s triumph is another’s defeat in this case as Forsberg’s night ended on a sour note. He was making his NHL debut and stopped 26 of 29 shots in the Blue Jackets’ fifth straight loss.
