Like father, like son?

Josh Manson, the son of former NHL tough guy Dave Manson, could make his debut for the Anaheim Ducks when they take on the Dallas Stars Friday. These two teams clashed in an entertaining and heated first-round series last spring, with the Ducks eventually prevailing.

Josh, now 23 years of age and listed at a solid 6'3" and 217 pounds, was drafted in the sixth round by the Ducks in 2011. He played three seasons with Northeastern University, before making the jump to the sometimes rough and tumble American Hockey League.

His expected insertion into the lineup comes with Mark Fistric having been ruled out with a lower-back injury and listed as day-to-day, according to Helene Elliott of the L.A. Times.

His father, Dave, played at a time when the NHL featured several of the game’s most feared enforcers, including Bob Probert and Scott Stevens to name a few. In 1,103 regular season games, the former hard-nosed defenseman racked up 2,792 penalty minutes. His playing career came to an end in 2001-2002.

“I don’t know if I’m that aggressive. He played pretty tough,” Manson, the son, told the L.A. Times. “But I’m going to do the best I can to replicate his game because he was pretty successful in his career.”

Below is an example of what his father, Dave, was capable of when he dropped the gloves.
