The Colorado Avalanche have recalled goaltender Sami Aittokallio from the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters the club announced Friday.

The move comes after goaltender Reto Berra was injured during Colorado’s 5-3 loss in Ottawa Thursday night.

Post-game Patrick Roy had no update on Berra.

Berra’s injury is in addition to Semyon Varlamov’s groin injury, which is expected to keep him out of action until Colorado’s home game against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 24.

Calvin Pickard, who came in for Berra, made 23 saves in the loss.

Patrick Roy said Varlamov felt groin problem yesterday and no update on Berra. Pickard’s a good kid, well spoken. Quiet locker room #Avs
