Daniel Briere scored with 0.4 seconds remaining and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Boston Bruins, 2-1, this afternoon at TD Garden.

The result was a huge one for the Avs, who started the season with back-to-back shutout losses to the Wild. Backup Reto Berra got the start in goal for Colorado and turned away 27 of the 28 Bruins shots he faced.

Possession-wise, the Avs were competitive for the second straight game, after a season opener in which they were anything but.

Meanwhile, for the 1-3-0 Bruins, the loss will only add to the concerns that were being raised before today’s game. Boston has scored just four goals in its first four games.
