Chances are Andre Burakovsky won’t soon forget his first NHL goal.
The Swedish rookie, taken 23rd overall at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, scored in his NHL debut on Thursday -- against the Montreal Canadiens, no less -- and in the process scored Washington’s first goal of the 2014-15 season as well:
A skillful center that opened as the Caps’ No. 2 center, Burakowsky -- who only turned 19 in February -- earned rave reviews from head coach Barry Trotz during the preseason.
“High-level talent,” Trotz said. “He has a mature game, even though he’s really young in terms of years.”According to @EliasSports, Andre Burakovsky is the 13th player in #Caps franchise history to score his first NHL goal in his first NHL game.
