Devils release Fedotenko and Kaberle from tryouts

The New Jersey Devils have released forward Ruslan Fedotenko and defenseman Tomas Kaberle from their tryouts with the club.

From nj.com:

Fedotenko, 35, played in two preseason games and did not have a point. He was minus-2 with no penalty minutes.

Kaberle, 36, appeared in two preseason games and had one assist. He was plus-2 with no penalty minutes. His release may have opened the door slightly for the Devils to keep rookie defenseman Damon Severson.

Will either catch on with another team? Hard to say, but it’s worth passing along what Jaromir Jagr said recently about Kaberle, his Czech Republic teammate during the Sochi Olympics.

“I didn’t think he was going to play that good,” said Jagr. "[But] he was one of our best players on the Czech national team facing the best players in the world.”

Then again, Kaberle hasn’t played an NHL game since March of 2013, soon after which he was bought out by the Montreal Canadiens.
