According to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Blues are nearing a deal with restricted free agent forward Jaden Schwartz.

Schwartz, 22, had 22 goals and 56 points in 82 games during the 2013-14 season, his second in the NHL.

Per Rutherford, Schwartz and the Blues are working on a deal, which could see the 2010 first-round pick (14th overall) in the “fold by the end of Saturday”.

Schwartz had his three-year, $3.5 million entry-level contract expire in June.

St. Louis hosts the the Dallas Stars in Kansas City tonight before resuming their preseason schedule Sept. 30 against Carolina.
