The Buffalo Sabres decided to cut defenseman Mark Pysyk’s Tuesday night short after he suffered an upper-body injury.
Details are pretty scarce regarding what, exactly, caused problems for the 22-year-old:
No sign of Mark Pysyk on #Sabres bench...played just 54 secs in first period....No one noticed anything up here.

Obviously, the exact severity of his ailments are unclear.
Pysyk played 44 NHL games in 2013-14 and also spent some time in the AHL, appearing in 31 contests with the Rochester Americans. It’s difficult to say how good a chance (a healthy) Pysyk has of sticking with the Sabres last season, but his work seemed (relatively) solid last season, though that’s not saying much considering Buffalo’s woes.
In other assorted injury notes, the Montreal Canadiens announced that Michael McCarron’s Tuesday ended early because of an upper-body injury.
