Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler was bloodied after taking a puck to the face during a preseason game on Tuesday.

The team announced that he was off to the locker room and hasn’t provided any additional updates just yet. PHT’s Cam Tucker provided a few more sensory details of the unfortunate moment:

Update: The team announced that he won’t return to the exhibition, which isn’t a big surprise.

The 28-year-old is coming off a hugely disappointing 2013-14 season in which he was limited to 63 games and wasn’t very effective when he did manage to play.

One can assume that the Canucks will be careful with Edler tonight and maybe for the rest of the preseason. Either way, PHT will provide an update if one is made available.
