On Tuesday, Washington showed off the duds it’ll be wearing at the 2015 Winter Classic at Nationals Park.
The uniforms -- implementing a series of stripes that “bring in elements of Washington professional hockey jerseys from the 1930s” -- are predominantly red and navy blue and include a silhouette of the Washington Monument, which has never before been featured on a Capitals uniform.
“We wanted to create a uniform that not only celebrates the history of the Capitals but also gives the team a unique, new look,” Capitals president Dick Patrick said in a statement. “We feel our fans will really embrace this uniform.”
