Didn’t take long for Washington and Philly to renew their distaste for one another.

In a fight-filled game to kick off their exhibition campaigns, the Flyers and Caps fought early and often -- five times all told -- re-igniting a rivalry that caught fire last season when Ray Emery beat up Braden Holtby during Washington’s blowout win in early November.

On Monday, fists were flying again.

Two guys unlikely to be on NHL rosters this season -- Philly’s Derek Mathers and Washington’s Liam O’Brien -- threw down in the first fight of the night, which was followed by tilt between Brayden Schenn and Garrett Mitchell:

After that, it was ex-Flyer Kris Newberry taking on Blair Jones:

And shortly thereafter, it was Jones getting into it again -- this time with Steve Oleksy (a decision Jones probably regrets):

To finish things off, Chris VandeVelde and Chris Brown dropped ‘em, too.

Preseason hockey, folks.
