Lombardi brings Stanley Cup to Snoopy

Aug 31, 2014, 9:44 PM EDT

Los Angeles Kings GM Dean Lombardi got his chance to be with the Stanley Cup on Sunday and he chose to take it to the Charles M. Schulz Museum, which is dedicated to the late cartoonist that created Peanuts, as well as Snoopy’s Home Ice, per the Los Angeles Times.

Schulz was a hockey fan and his love of the game was often made its way into Peanuts.

The Hockey Hall of Fame’s Philip Pritchard shared some lighthearted pictures of Lombardi’s day:

Of course with the summer winding down, so too is the Kings’ time with the Cup. They’ve won it twice in the last three years, but haven’t been able to become the first team since the 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings to successfully defend their championship. They’ll have another chance to do so in 2014-15.

Hawks wil be ready, this time with more offseason rest AND not having the most players in the Olympics. Hawks really stumbled after the Olympics. Game on :)))

You know what they say about excuses????
You were beat by the better team last year. The same as the year were the better team.

This is turning into the best rivalry in the NHL…2 major would hope the NHL is taking advantage of what they have. They can promote NYR/philly/Pitt & Crosby all they want, but if you’re looking for the best hockey, it’s being played west of the Miss…..and these 2 teams are clearly the best.

Strange, I’d expect a Charles Schultz museum to be in St. Paul, or at least Minnesota. Otherwise I’d be bummed that I didn’t get a chance to see the Cup here. Oh well, I expect it’ll make an appearance in the next few years though 😉

Vision, enterprise, creativity, courage, passion … what more can one say about the architect of the ‘greatest’ professional ice hockey team in the world today eh ? :)

I went skating with my girlfriend at that rink in Santa Rosa once back in the 1970s. We were having some hot chocolate when Mr Schulz walked by. My girlfriend could see I was looking down at that moment, but only a few moments late asked if I’d seen him. Argh. I traded her for a couple of draft picks.
