Report: Former Bruins’ first round pick Hamill signs in Finland

Aug 29, 2014, 3:00 PM EDT

Former Boston Bruins first round pick Zach Hamill has signed with HPK in Finland.

The report comes from hockey agent Darryl Wolski, the president of the 2112 Hockey Agency:

Hamill, the eighth overall selection at the 2007 NHL Draft, appeared in 20 games over three seasons registering four assists with Boston.

The 25-year-old also spent parts of five seasons with the Bruins’ AHL affiliate in Providence.

Last season the 5-foot-11, 180-pound center split time between the Utica Comets of the AHL and Barys Astana of the KHL.

Omfg, we could have had Logan Couture…

If I had a dime every time I or any other B’s fan had said that, I wouldn’t be a rich man, but I sure would have a lot of dimes.

And if the Sabres didn’t take Marek Zagrapan in 2005, or Dennis Persson in 2006…they could have Patrick Berglund and TJ Oshie…every team can do that.

Funny thing is…in 2007 Buffalo didn’t have a 1st round pick, and with their pick, San Jose took Nick Petrecki, whom is now part of the Sabres AHL affiliate, the Amerks.

But every team, in every sport, can play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game with drafts.

Shaundre93 – it wasn’t Hamill that we took over couture it was Caron. But yeah we could’ve had Couture

NO, IM RIGHT!!! Lol, jk. But really

Like DJ said, every team can play the coulda woulda shoulda game with draft picks, this one is particularly painful though

After checking that list it seems Mr. Hamill was Boston’s most successful pick that year. Yikes. PC’s first couple drafts weren’t exactly dynamite haha

Could be worse, all of the Canucks picks from that year
have a combined NHL games played of 0

      • shaundre93 - Aug 29, 2014 at 4:01 PM

Yeah, that draft in general was pretty lackluster

If you want to feel better, shaundre, look up the Canucks’ draft picks over the last ten or twelve years. On a What Could Have Been scale of 1 to 10, they’re about a 13.5

But Boston has coulda wouldas every year it seems.

If that is particularly painful…take what I said about the Sabres being able to have Berglund and Oshie…and think about the fact that Zagrapan and Persson COMBINED for ZERO NHL GAMES!!! Lol.

That is REALLY tough to swallow…thankfully their drafting lately has been pretty stellar, given the pipeline.

Just can’t wait for next year when this rebuild is done and they start to compete.
