Video: Luongo’s amusing Ice Bucket Challenge

Aug 22, 2014, 7:14 PM EDT

At this rate, it feels like the entire human population has taken part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, so it takes something special to really stand out.

Naturally, Roberto Luongo managed to do so, combining amazing “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” pajamas with a great list of hockey people to challenge:

In case you didn’t get the chance to run that video, Luongo challenged old buddies John Tortorella, Mike Keenan and NBC’s own Mike Milbury to dump ice-cold water on their heads.

Well done, although it’s a little disappointing that the following names didn’t get in that top three instead:

Actually, Luongo could have topped that video by dumping ice water on a copy of his much-maligned contract.

Luongo’s a great guy. Definitely has had his fair share of criticism, and people seem to forget that he’s what, sixth, seventh or something all time in goalie wins? And he’s still got a few good years ahead of him. He’s always seemed to manage to keep a smile on his face and have fun with it, especially through that saga in Vancouver, and I respect that about him.

And best of all, he looks like the butler from Mr. Deeds. Very, very sneaky sir.

I think you’re underestimating his sneakiness

Roberto Luongo – “WHO THE HELL IS THIS JENSEN GUY?! Why didn’t I have that guy as offensive support this season? And when did Burrows start scoring again? This is bulls**t. I love being in Florida, but relying on Scott Gomez for goal support is where it evens out“ … The Province @ March 17, 2014.

As a Vancouver resident with ‘lukewarm’ empathy for the Canucks, it bears repeating that this furtive and ‘predictable’ flake is easier to read than a 100′ x 50′ highway billboard sign ! Speaking of which, you take away his ‘billboard-sized’ pads and the fool doesn’t even crack the top 30 … much like that Swedish clown over there in New York City. Regardless, Luongo can now enjoy his journey into ‘total’ obscurity down there in ‘hockey mad’ Florida, a land of swamps, swindlers, alligators and ‘sweltering’ 100 degree (plus) temps. What’s going to be really funny though is when Panthers owner Vinnie Viola finally snaps and invites Luongo to a spaghetti dinner ! I’d say the over/under on that can’t be more than a couple of years, tops … :)

You’re such a tool. Just stop with the incessant anti luongo pro kings post a g.d video under every g.d. post. We get it! Find a greater purpose in your life than this. There’s more out there.
