#Hartnelldown makes it to Columbus

Jul 31, 2014, 5:18 PM EDT

Scott Hartnell finds himself in a new city with a new team after being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets, yet he’s bringing his self-deprecating foundation #Hartnelldown with him.

Hartnell, 32, discusses the origins of the idea and continuing that work in Columbus in the video below (beginning around the 1:49 mark if you’re not interested in talk regarding his cameo in “This is 40″):

The foundation already has two T-shirts dedicating to his change of location:

Being able to laugh at yourself is nice enough, but managing to generate some charitable contributions on top of that only makes it better.

totally forgot about this trade. I’ve always like Hartnell. His exhange with Pittsburgh Hulk Hogan fan is probably the hardest I’ve laughed while watching sports.

I always loved to hate hartnell while he was on the flyers. Something tells me hes going to have a great year with the jackets. Imagine him on a line with dubinsky? They could be extremely hard to play against

That’s why we all have to remember at the end of the day their all just regular guys doing a job .

Highly overpaid for what the does on the ice, and signed for much too long. But just a flat out great guy off the ice

No threat on ice at all. None. I think he hurts Columbus. They are high speed and aggressive. He doesn’t for them. I dislike Hartnell as well as the Flyers did for trading him. RJ ? For real??
