PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

You may have missed Penguins forward Adam Payerl in the two games he played for Pittsburgh last season, but at 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds, Bill Guerin says he’s a “beast.” (Penguins)

P.K. Subban has been just about everywhere in Montreal over the weekend including on stage at Just For Laughs with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. What a life! (Montreal Gazette)

Remember goalie Mark Dekanich? The former Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets farmhand is rocking it in the KHL playing for Medvescak Zagreb in Croatia and could be the Croatian National Team’s man in net, too. (IIHF)

The sons of former Detroit Red Wings and Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Steve Chiasson are getting their shot to follow in their father’s footsteps in Raleigh. (NHL.com)

Washington Capitals farmhand defenseman David Kolomatis is headed to Finland after striking a deal with Tappara in the SM-liiga. (Washington Post)

The battle amongst young players on the Buffalo Sabres blue line will be a tough one. (NHL.com)

It takes many, many games more than 2 in the NHL to be thought of as a beast. Call us after a couple of full 82 games seasons Payerl and we’ll let you know what we think.

Eh, it’s a comment by (one of) the Assistant GM, for the team’s official website. Not really trying to make hard-hitting news. For instance the next article in that stream is “Getting to Know Jake Hildebrand”. If you’re asking yourself “Who’s Jake Hildebrand” that is the appropriate and correct response.

Man that Sabres team is gonna be an interesting one to watch this year. A bunch of young guns time to shine. Hodger will get a bit of relief with Gionta stepping in though, something Leino could never do in Buf.

it appears that no one cares….

    Subban drank from the cup?!?!

Isn’t touching the cup and especially drinking from the cup before you win it is a major ‘faux pas’? That’s an even worse offense than touching either of the Conference Champion trophies before touching the cup… or not growing a playoff beard.

Say what you will about hockey superstitions, but 1940 the New York Rangers won the cup and they peed in the Stanley Cup… They didn’t see it again for 54 years. It literally took a Moose to do break that curse. I don’t know what the Leafs did to it in 1967, but it was a doozy! Hope the Hockey Gods saw that. :D

Apparently reading comprehension is not your strong suit: “P.K. Subban come out to fill the Stanley Cup with beer, so Rogen could fulfill a bucket-list dream of drinking out of it.”

In light of my previous comment, I feel obliged to add for you that it says Subban filled it up and Rogen drank from it. Nothing about Subban so much as touching it.

He drank out of it using a straw. It just wasn’t mention in the specific article linked above.

There’s video and pictures of Subban drinking from it. Sometimes the movie has stuff not in the book.
