Stars, Roussel agree on four-year, $8 million deal

The Dallas Stars won’t have to go to arbitration with pesky forward Antoine Roussel, as the two sides have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $8 million contract.

Roussel had 14 goals and 15 assists, with 209 PIM, in 2013-14. The 24-year-old from France was never drafted by an NHL club. He was originally signed by the Stars in 2012.

Only two NHLers, Tom Sestito (213 PIM) and Chris Neil (211), were penalized more than Roussel last season.

So to celebrate his new contract, here’s Roussel enjoying a good scrap with former Predator d-man Kevin Klein:

2 RFA’s to sign, and suffucient cap space. Stars GM/Management team have done well, augmenting the Stars while leaving space.

Not a Stars fan, but a hockey fan and serious central division fan (I’m now living in S. Illinois, betwixt the Hawks, Blues and Preds). My dad took me to see the Hawks multiple times in the 60’s and 70’s. Wild are my #2 team.

So in one sense, I don’t want to see the Stars improve. But as a hockey fan, I can honestly say “job well done” over the past year.

The Central division will be incredibly tough again. And most likely to produce the SC champ – 2 of the next 3 years.

The Stars are going to be very good and this is a nice deal for them.
