PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Tyler Ennis‘ agent, Eustace King, thinks his client will eventually have a 25-30 goal, 70-point campaign. (Buffalo News)

Although it hasn’t gotten a lot of attention in Dallas given that the Stars added Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky this summer, the fact that they also re-signed Vernon Fiddler to a two-year, $2.5 million contract shouldn’t be dismissed as minor. (Defending Big D)

I agree that Ennis probably does have untapped upside. This should be evident as his linemates increase in quality. That’s why I think it was a good deal…he’s not worth a cap hit of 4.6 now, but he will be worth more than that in 3 years if this supposition is true.

    Evader Kane for Ryan O’Reilly.

Winnipeg gets a talented center that apparently wants to be the “it” guy on some team and after arbitration will have a known contract.

Avs get a bigger, tougher, grittier player on the wing. Kane can be mentored by Jerome Iginla and would fit in nicely on either a line with Duchene or Mackinnon at center. Replaces ROR speed but plays much bigger than O’Reilly.

Avs had to arb ROR so they have a marketable contact to trade. Chevaldayoff has been waiting to trade to see what the arb decides.

Get it done Joe. This could be a great trade.

As a Wild fan, NOOOOO. But that makes sense, would be a win-win for both teams imo.

        Win win I agree.

Would hate to see O’Reilly leave but Avs need more grit up front. Besides, somebody else to kick Cooke’s azz is always good. He-he!

lol yea Cookie got his a$$ kicked in that fight. Speaking of him, any word on Barrie’s rehab/recovery? I just saw our game 7 was voted best playoff game. I probably could have convinced my doctor to give me a prescription of Xanax after that game

Nothing 0n Barrie. The only talk is his RFA. I’m sure the Avs will get it all done when ROR’s arb is decided.

I’m from MN so I always want the Wild to do well, except against the Avs! Fletch has done a great job.

I nearly drowned in a bottle of Vodka after that game!

What else is Ennis’ agent supposed to say? “Thankfully we were able to get him a decent contract now as it’s all downhill from here with his career.” Definitely a summer hockey article.
