Here’s an Islanders article on Griffin Reinhart

Jul 15, 2014, 1:10 PM EDT

Griffin Reinhart, fourth overall pick by the New York Islanders, shakes hands during Round One of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft at Consol Energy Center on June 22, 2012 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

A commenter just complained below the Derek Roy story that we haven’t had a post on the New York Islanders in “13 days and counting.” While it’s possible that’s because the New York Islanders haven’t really done much since signing Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin, here at PHT we try to listen to our readers, so here’s a link to a story about Griffin Reinhart. Apparently, the young defenseman would like to play in the NHL, not the WHL, next season.

“I think my skating’s been improving a lot,” Reinhart said. “I think my decision-making’s getting even better and quicker. I always thought I had good decision-making, but being up here you need to make it quicker, and I think I’ve done a good job of that … puck moving and getting some pucks through and overall defensive-zone stick play and all that is really getting better too.”

Islanders coach Jack Capuano confirmed that Reinhart, the fourth overall pick in the 2012 draft, is “going to get an opportunity come September.” And we promise we won’t ignore the Islanders until then. But if they could do something more exciting than signing guys to two-way contracts and announcing affiliation agreements with ECHL teams, we might be a bit more apt to write about them.

Slippery slope: once you cave on posting about the Islanders, the next thing you know the site will be littered with posts of Elvis YouTube videos and Crosby injury updates…

Back off RSL ! … seriously

what a nice guy jason brough is.

the reinharts are poised to invade the NHL.

haha great one. Maybe a story a day on Josh Ho-Sang’s past behavior problems would be fun for us Islanders and non-Islanders fans alike.

    • islesjb - Jul 15, 2014 at 1:34 PM

Ho-Sang scored a couple goals in the prospect scrimmage and apparently had the entire crowd going chanting his name. Not saying that should have been covered but this kid should produce some blog worthy material in the future; could be a star.

I personally think the behavioral “problems” are pretty overblown and will be a non-issue. As far as I know, he wasn’t involved in any incidents and has never been arrested. He’s just made some comments would have been better of not said (saying that Kane likes to booze or something). Gotta remember he’s not even 20 years old yet. Gotta give him some slack.

      • thecheeman - Jul 15, 2014 at 1:46 PM

I’ve never seen the kid play, but it sounds like he more or less acts like a brat a lot. I’m assuming that he’s always been one of the very best at every level he’s played at, and I think it will be interesting to see how he reacts to his first extended period of struggling in the AHL, with arguably the most incompetent franchise in the NHL for a support system.

Look at how badly the Islanders botched the Neiderreiter situation. Nobody even kills them for it because it’s more or less expected the Islanders will screw everything up in short order.

They trade him for Cal Clutterbuck and a 3rd round pick and Nino immediately puts up 36 points on 14 minutes a night at 21 years old. What were they thinking on that one again?

    • jl9830 - Jul 15, 2014 at 10:44 PM

What “behavioral problems?” Please give us one example besides him speaking his mind. It’s people like you that just go trashing people’s reputations. Please, give us just one example.

      • thecheeman - Jul 16, 2014 at 9:56 AM

On-ice he got some massive suspension for hitting a guy from behind in the playoffs. Off ice I’ve read an interview where he sold out his Windsor linemates to explain why he doesn’t score the most points in the league. It’s probably true but it’s the kind of thing that makes people hate you.

Charles Wang got a haircut last Friday… where were you on that one Brough??

  5. pfhockey - Jul 15, 2014 at 1:40 PM

LOL. I give you my respect Mr. Brough.

Whoever that Islander fan is, they should stop whining. You’re giving Islander fans a bad rep and this is coming from an Islanders season ticket holder.

    • multiplemiggs - Jul 16, 2014 at 9:45 PM

Uh-oh watch out we have a SEASON TICKET HOLDER over here! Woah Nellie! That means he is a bigger Isles fan than all of us. Speaking of giving us a bad rep stop wearing turtlenecks to all the friggin games.

Class act PHT. You guys keep my summer a little less boring.

  9. blomfeld - Jul 15, 2014 at 2:37 PM

“here at PHT we try to listen to our readers” …

    BINGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

With all kidding aside friends, this is ‘exactly’ why I personally come to PHT for any/all things hockey related ! Brough, Halford, Tucker and crew ‘know’ what they’re talking about and they ‘care’ about their readers. Yes sir ! And so when it comes to the NHL, there’s only one place that you need to go and that’s NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk ! :)

ps: anyone who says otherwise is an ‘idiot’ and they should be ‘dealt with’ in no uncertain terms

    GO PHT !!!

I won’t lie, I feel very special right now. Thank you for my Isles article. I understand though that there are much more important things going on in the NHL to write about like the Paul Ranger, Tim Erixson and David Pastrnak signings! Who wasn’t dying to hear where they would land?

I sense spite in the opening of this article

  13. bcisleman - Jul 15, 2014 at 3:40 PM

Odds are Isles will be making at least one more major move to improve their D before the season starts…maybe two.

  14. thesportsjudge - Jul 15, 2014 at 4:54 PM

Out of all the commenters you responded to that one?
