Terrific story about Australian Nathan Walker (Washington Post link). Discovered the game at the age of 4 after watching “The Mighty Ducks.” Left home at the age of 13 to play hockey in Europe (Czech Republic). Didn’t speak the Czech language; now speaks passable Czech which enables him to communicate with fellow draft picks Jakub Vrana and Vitek Vanecek, both natives of the country.

Love his quote when asked if he had a pet kangaroo: “First time I went to the U.S. they asked me if I had a pet kangaroo,” Walker said. “I say, ‘Yeah, everyone has a pet kangaroo in Australia.’ There’s nothing to do but embrace it.”

Nothing to do but embrace it. Great attitude! Good luck to him!!

Look up the story of Taro Tsujimoto.

If you don’t know it, prepare to laugh your rear-end off…it’s epically hilarious.

I was going to ask if it was any relation of his lol.

Cute story. Interesting that one can still buy a Taro Tsujimoto shirt with his name, number and the name of his Japanese team, The Tokyo Katanas, and that he has a Twitter account.

What I also found interesting is that the draft used to be conducted in secret, in a hotel room or by way of conference call. Think Bettman would have preferred that to how he was greeted in Philadelphia at this year’s draft?

      P.S. Thanks for the laugh.
