Shooting for the Stars: Dallas inks Hemsky — three years, $12M

The Dallas Stars are getting after it.

Shortly after acquiring Jason Spezza via trade, Dallas signed his former Ottawa running mate Ales Hemsky to a three-year, $12 million deal, per TSN.

Acquired from Edmonton at last year’s deadline, Hemsky showed extremely well as a Senator by establishing chemistry on a line with Spezza and Milan Michalek. The Czech winger had 17 points in 20 games in Ottawa and will no doubt be pleased to reunite with Spezza in Dallas, a team that’s shaping up to be a formidable offensive force.

Prior to landing Spezza and Hemsky, the Stars already boasted two of the NHL’s best scorers — Tyler Seguin, who finished fourth with 84 points and Jamie Benn, who finished 10th with 79.

Maybe think about getting some solid Defense?

The best defense is a good offense. Smart move to pick up Hempsky after signing Speeza. They really clicked well together and should make Dallas fans excited about their Cup hopes(not about just making the playoffs anymore).

well, the stars are freakin loaded now. probably need 1 solid defender and theyll be pretty legit.

that is, of course, if they all come together as a team. lindy ruff isnt a bad man to lead that.

Jim Nill making huge moves! trying to get that GM of the year?

Awesome signing Nill, very good tactics reuniting Spezza’s linemate. Make signing Spezza to an extension more attractive, Dallas is on FIRE!!!

Remember as well that Hemsky are going to be on the second line, with second line match ups.

    Benn – Seguin – Nichu
    ? – Spezza- Hemsky

Thats a good start to the top 6.

The central division will once again be the best in the NHL, and have a good chance of landing 5 teams in the playoffs again. I would not get caught up in cup dreams however, as the Stars would need to pass the Hawks and Blues, as well as contending with an improving Wild.

Thumbed down for not mentioning the Avalanche – you know – DIVISION CHAMPS?!? :)
