Martin Havlat wasn’t out of work very long.

After being bought out by the San Jose Sharks, Havlat has signed a one-year deal with the New Jersey Devils worth $1.5 million according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. Havlat received $2 million from his buyout from the Sharks.

Havlat, 33, struggled with the Sharks last season. He dealt with injury and then was bounced down to the fourth line. In 48 games with San Jose he had 12 goals and 22 points. He played in just one playoff game against the Los Angeles Kings playing 11:49.

With the Devils he’ll have the opportunity to show what he’s got and having fellow Czechs Patrik Elias and Jaromir Jagr to play alongside. With Mike Cammalleri also signing with the Devils today, offense in Newark could be exciting.
