Bolts d-man Korobov signs in Russia

Korobov

Tampa Bay Lightning d-man Dmitry Korobov has signed with Atlant Mytishchi of the KHL, the club announced on Tuesday.

Korobov, 25, signed a two-year entry-level deal with Tampa in 2012 after a stint with KHL Dynamo Minsk. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Belorussian rearguard spent most of his time in North America with AHL Syracuse -- helping the Crunch reach the Calder Cup finals -- and appeared in three games for the Lightning last season, registering one assist.

It’s worth noting, however, that Korobov was one of the six players Tampa Bay made a qualifying offer to earlier this week -- one of just two d-men to receive one (the other was Andrej Sustr.) Fellow RFA d-men Keith Aulie and Charles Landry were allowed to walk and head to unrestricted free agency; while Korobov won’t play in North America this year, his NHL rights will remain property of Tampa Bay.
