Canucks to buy out Booth

Jun 17, 2014, 12:28 PM EDT

From TSN’s Bob McKenzie:

Update: Canucks confirm it.

We wrote about Booth yesterday. At the time, his agent, Mike Liut, hadn’t heard from the Canucks, and wasn’t sure if his client would be bought out.

Booth, 29, had nine goals in 66 games for the Canucks in 2013-14. He was also an occasional healthy scratch and spent some time in the AHL on a conditioning assignment.

Booth will become an unrestricted free agent, and may actually be worth rolling the dice on, assuming the price is right. Despite his struggles in 2013-14, he had four goals in his last 10 games, and looked to have more jump a year after suffering a serious ankle injury.

“The doctor said, ‘In a full year you’ll be feeling good,'” Booth said in March. “My speed is coming back and I’m protecting the puck well.”

The Canucks used their first compliance buyout last offseason on Keith Ballard.

Both Booth and Ballard were acquired by former Vancouver general manager Mike Gillis in trades with the Florida Panthers.

Gillis sucked. Should have been fired a year earlier.

    MIKE GILLIS = LEHMAN BROTHERS

As a ‘lukewarm’ supporter of the Vancouver Canucks, I’m now finding myself almost in ‘sympathy’ for Linden and crew, for such is the utter ‘carnage’ which Mike ‘Einstein’ Gillis inflicted upon this team during his tenure here. I knew of Mike Gillis beforehand when he was a player agent, as he was positively ‘loathed’ by GM’s throughout the league. However, it was right then when they hired him as the new Canucks GM, that I knew with certainty that the guy was a ‘freak’ after he interviewed Alaine Vigneault for four days straight in a Las Vegas hotel room ! Talk about a narcissistic, vain ‘power-hungry’ nerd suffering from ‘little man’ syndrome eh ?

Anyway, good on the Canucks for choosing to part ways with this ‘fake’ tough guy. As I’ve said in previous testimony here at PHT before … “any Special Forces person, be it American, German or Israeli, could kill an ‘armed’ Booth with their bare hands so fast that the idiot wouldn’t even know what had happened … and they wouldn’t have to ‘gloat’ about it after either”.

So ‘adios’ tough guy ! … and take your stupid guns and your silly fatigues with you !

‘nice’ way to ‘accent’ ‘irrelevant’ words. I ‘always’ enjoy your ‘replies’

The Canucks are now paying Mike Gillis, John Tortorella, Roberto Luongo, Keith Ballard, and David Booth to not play/coach/manage them.

Canucks30 – it’s unbelievable eh ? … I mean seriously, how many ‘millions’ will they now be pissing right out the window for the next umpteen years ? … and it’s no small wonder that we haven’t heard ‘boo’ from Gillis eh ? … in fact, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a contract has now been put out on the ‘arrogant’ little weasel … what a complete POS ! … anyway, I do actually feel sorry for Linden & crew, as they sure have their work cut out for them in going forward … these are going to be ‘tough times’ for a while …
