Thinking about somehow finding a ticket for tonight’s Game 5 between the L.A. Kings and New York Rangers? Well, be prepared to break the bank. Tickets for this one are historically expensive.

The resilient Kings can clinch the Stanley Cup for the second time in three years with a win over the visiting Rangers tonight.

From the Canadian Press:

SeatGeek, an aggregator for the secondary ticket market, reports that fans had paid an average of US$1,126 a ticket as of Thursday for the Staples Center game, making it the most expensive Los Angeles Kings game in team history. The previous high was $903 for Game 4 of the 2012 Cup final.

This is the complete opposite of what was happening in New York in the lead-up to Game 4, which the Rangers needed to win in order to avoid being swept in the final series.

Ticket prices fell dramatically prior to that game, according to SeatGeek, which reported: “The average price on the secondary market so far today is $904, down 40% from an average of $1,525 just yesterday and down 53% from an average of $1,937 per ticket this time last week (prior to the start of the series).”

You can buy an amazing T.V. for that price and be able to enjoy the atmosphere of your own home. The price of 2nd hand market tickets has been way out of hand for some years now, I’m surprised it’s even legal. No matter how much money you have, you should never let someone take advantage of you like that. Sell it for face value if you can’t make the game.

You won’t have to worry about that after tonight for another 20 years!

Just think how high the Game 7 tickets will be when the Rangers win the next two and finish off the grand collapse of the Kings!

kings may win tonight, indeed. but thank god all fan predictions remain what it is…just predictions. the games are still to be decided on the ice.

don’t like LA and neither the rangers (by nature). but tonight i want them to win and extend the series hopefully to the full span of 7 games.

i want it so badly a game 7 decision in the SCF…in OT! i know it happen a few times before but its been 50 years or so?

While the ticket prices for game 4 might have fell pretty dramatically, that won’t be the case if the Rangers can somehow get this thing back to NY. I don’t even want to think what game six tickets at the Garden would cost….

      After tonight they’re free!
