Friday is another off day before the Stanley Cup Final resumes, so rather than preview Game 2, we’re taking a look at some headlines from around the league this morning:

Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith is no longer being bothered by the knee injury that forced him to miss the Coyotes’ last 10 games of the season. (NHL.com)

Now that his two-game suspension is over, defenseman John Moore is expected to be inserted into the New York Rangers’ lineup for Game 2. (Newsday)

Marc Crawford is interested in returning to the Vancouver Canucks as the team’s head coach. He’s been in talks with the Canucks, as well as the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes. (Vancouver Province)

Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter’s description of defenseman Ryan McDonagh as “the Rangers’ Doughty” has led to an article comparing the two blueliners. (Sporting News)

Now that the Washington Capitals have hired a new general manager and head coach, they’re turning their attention to filling other coaching vacancies within the organization. Among the top candidates are Peter Horachek, who served as the Florida Panthers’ bench boss for most of the season. (CSN Washington)

There will be a celebration in Tampa Bay to honor the 10th anniversary of them winning the Stanley Cup in 2004. Meanwhile, two key members of that team — Martin St. Louis and Brad Richards — are trying to win it again with the Rangers. (Tampa Bay Times)

If Smith hadn’t been injured, the Yotes would have coasted into the last spot for the playoffs. I hope they make a few changes on the back end in the off-season, so that Smith doesn’t have to stand on his head so much just to win games.
