Bet with Jimmy Fallon leaves Canadiens mascot roaming Montreal in sorrow

Jun 1, 2014, 2:48 PM EST

Brimming with confidence, the Montreal Canadiens made a bet with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon before the Eastern Conference Final against the New York Rangers started. When the Canadiens fell short, it was their mascot, Youppi!, that was forced to pay the price.

Youppi! wore a Rangers jersey with Fallon’s name on the back as he toured Montreal. It was clear though that Henrik Lundqvist‘s series-winning shutout victory over Montreal was still on his mind:

The Canadiens will have to wait until next season before they’ll have a chance to lift Youppi!’s spirits.

Glad they honored the bet. Still waiting for caepernick to shave his eyebrow for losing to Seattle in September.

Biggest butt-sore loser. Hope he tests Sherman again this season. Can’t believe we have to wait until week 13 for a rematch. With all the dysfunction in SF this offseason, I’m more concerned about the Hawks beating the Cardinals. Three best teams in football in one division.

    Take that Youppi.

Does it bother anyone else that Fallon’s jersey uses a number the Rangers have retired?

      I think it’s a “Fallon Won” joke.

    I’m sure the jersey was a “we’re #1″ thing.

He’s not a player, wearing it in a game. I don’t see an issue. No harm, no foul.

(I’m not a Rangers fan though.)
