Video: Muzzin lands huge hit on Kruger

May 28, 2014, 11:02 PM EDT

Heading into overtime, a lot was in the air, but it seems fair to say that Chicago Blackhawks forward Marcus Kruger had a rough night.

One could point to his -3 rating heading into overtime against the Los Angeles Kings in Game 5, but this thunderous hit by Jake Muzzin tells the story far more dramatically:

The real question is how to use Muzzin’s last name to describe his hits. Did Kruger get Muzzin’d or should we go with “Muzzining?”

    Muzzin blast.

That hit is symbolic of what this game is doing to me. This is phenomenal hockey, particularly for someone who doesn’t have a dog in this fight.

Longer this goes, less I like Chicago ‘ s chances. They have been the team more likely to commit a bad turnover in this series. Hope I am wrong!

      Shocking. I am wrong.

Boy a hit! With-no whistle, whining or whimpering on the ice. Apparently the refs missed it. This game renewed my love of the sport. Tonight…..I’ll watch a high school play put on by the might whiners and flop artists up north.

    steady on papajack1259

you’re pointing fingers at the north … catch bickell or hossa on any given night if you want flopping … hawks are themselves one of the biggest collection of whiners in the league, from toews to quenneville

    all michael jackson no moonwalk

catch hawks in los angeles on friday for a season-ending flop then say bye bye

Were you born a douche or did you actually learn how to be one?

it’s all caused from him constantly sniffing the suntan lotion he rubs on the rich guy’s back and legs all day .

p.s. i guess we all have to make a living in some sort of manner !

    Great hit and great game.

I wish the refs from this game would call the Rangers/Habs game tonight so I don’t have to watch my Rangers humor a bunch of French Canadian ballerinas.

  12. topshelf37 - May 29, 2014 at 10:14 AM

    Muzzin Loaded!

  13. slysipops - May 29, 2014 at 3:43 PM

hit looked a little to the head , but KRUGER was bent over …besides he didn’t complain so it must of been okay .KRUGER is always getting nailed hard and keeps on clicking… what a guy ! plays 20 lbs. heavier than what he is !i just wish the HAWKS had someone to do some payback…or a coach who believed that it was the thing to do. oh well, it is what it is !

  14. toesml - May 29, 2014 at 7:20 PM

Clearly he hit the head, even looks like he “targeted the head” I hardly see the difference in this and many hits the league has suspended many a player for many days……… I’m not saying he should be suspended, I’m saying the subjective nature of what constitutes a hit requiring discipline is sooo messed up.

I guess if he flopped around, or faked a injury, or was actually injured, THEN all the sudden the league is threatened into action, and the hit to the head is a offence requiring discipline. Of lets say the hit was to Hossa or ??? then is it looked at.
