A Los Angeles Kings fan has filed a police report against Corey Crawford, alleging the Chicago goalie squirted him in the face with his water bottle at the end of Game 4 of the Western Conference Final at Staples Center, TMZ reports.

The details:

27-year-old Kings fan Clark Wong filed a battery report Monday night claiming he was “sprayed” by the hockey player at Staples Center.

TMZ Sports spoke with Wong who says he was sitting behind the Blackhawks bench — and was heckling Crawford — when the goalie was pulled from the game toward the end of the 3rd period.

That’s when Crawford — who’s in the middle of a 6-year, $36 million contract — allegedly whipped out a water bottle and blasted him right in the face.

Wong says he believes the bottle was filled with backwash — along with water — and it has caused serious irritation to his eyes. Wong says he’s going to a doctor to get his eyes checked.

League sources tell TMZ Sports … Wong was ejected from the game 3 to 5 minutes after the spraying incident for “taunting the players” and it was while he was being escorted out of the arena that he began to rub his eyes, complaining about the pain.

The TMZ report goes on to say that Crawford filed a police report following the game — a 5-2 loss, which gave the Kings a 3-1 series lead — before leaving the arena.

PHT has reached out to the NHL for comment on the situation; we’ll update the post when any new details become available.

Update: ‘Hawks head coach Joel Quenneville addressed the situation, sort of, during his pre-game press availability…

Q. On report that Corey Crawford sprayed a fan with water in LA.

COACH QUENNEVILLE: I just heard about it on my way over. First I heard of it. I’m not aware of the situation other than what you just said.
I’m not worried about it right now. I’m worrying about the game.

It’s still unclear if Crawford will face discipline from the NHL regarding the matter. Do remember that, in 2009, then-Rangers head coach John Tortorella was suspended one playoff game for squirting a fan with a water bottle during his team’s playoff series against Washington.

Kings fans, we’ll let you take care of this schmuck.

    • bwayblueshirt - May 28, 2014 at 12:25 PM

This makes me pine for the good old days when if you messed with players, they climbed into the stands and beat the piss out of you. I’m sure Milbury does too. I think I’ll watch the pre-game just to hear from him.

    • pirovash88 - May 28, 2014 at 12:34 PM

What a joke, seriously. If you’re going to taunt the guy, which we all did that night at Staples(yes i was there), then you should be ready for the repercussions. People these days want to sue for anything.

      • m1k3g - May 28, 2014 at 1:40 PM

….and how does a squirt bottle contain “backwash”?

        This guy is a moron.

    • 950003cups - May 28, 2014 at 12:40 PM

Leave it to a low life from LA, the “I’ll Sue You” capitol of the world, to come up with this garbage.

      • areaman714 - May 28, 2014 at 12:53 PM

I live near LA County. It is the victim Capitol of the world. Mr Wong is embarrassing himself and his family as well as his fellow Kings fans. Kings fans really need to purge themselves of the jilted Raider fan element which makes up for 30 percent of the fan base . . . the are only attracted to the silver and black.

      • 950003cups - May 28, 2014 at 3:25 PM

What’s funny is, that guy from Minnesota never filed charges against Rick Rypien (RIP), and Rick actually grabbed him!

People in LA need to learn how to defend themselves, not just civilly, but once in a while, physically too. Learn to take a punch, or a squirt of backwash once in a while.

    • 950003cups - May 28, 2014 at 12:42 PM

Or…. This could be another ploy by the Islanders owner to try and make another quick buck.

      • 7mantel - May 28, 2014 at 1:23 PM

        Wang not Wong

        You got the wong person

    • elmerbrownelmerbrown - May 28, 2014 at 1:22 PM

Fans have learned embelleshment from the players

    • pepper2011 - May 28, 2014 at 1:31 PM

I’d like to point out that the goalie sprays the water. No real chance for backwash.

I’m going to sue the Canadiens organization and PK Subban in particular for causing me stress issues in the series against the Bruins. His play elevated my blood pressure.

Perharps Mr. Wong’s eyes are irritated from having it stuck up his A$$

    • sdkingzfan - May 28, 2014 at 2:43 PM

Sreriously Clark. Denounce yourself as a Kings fan! We don’t need people like you. Suck it up! You want to taunt an athlete? Deal with the consequences. What a joke.

      GO KINGS GO!!!

  2. lowenni - May 28, 2014 at 12:16 PM

Ha. What a joke. He doesn’t deserve to win anything in this lawsuit, although Crawford should be able to keep his emotions in check if this did indeed happen.

  3. bcsteele - May 28, 2014 at 12:18 PM

Wow. This sounds like something a Canucks fan would do…if I’m a Kings fan I’d be all over this tool.

    • mornelithe - May 28, 2014 at 12:54 PM

No no no, LA isn’t on fire…nothing like what the Canucks fans would do.

      • theageofquarrel - May 28, 2014 at 1:13 PM

        LA burned before

      • mornelithe - May 28, 2014 at 1:16 PM

Yeah, but wasn’t that a completely separate situation from losing a Game 7? Pretty sure there was a much much bigger issue at hand in that regard.

      • thesheabutterfactory - May 28, 2014 at 2:36 PM

Well, LA rioted in 2010 when the Lakers won. So, people in LA riot over stupid stuff like sports too (so does Boston (’04), Detroit (’84) and Montreal(’93)).

The “LA Riots” in ’92 killed over 50 people! Yeah, that wasn’t over sports. It was about REAL PROBLEMS the city of LA has. So, it might be a better reason to riot, but what does that say about the city? It says LA has much bigger problems then losing (or winning, apparently) at sports. Deep, deep social problems.

      • mornelithe - May 28, 2014 at 4:35 PM

It was a joke. Lighten up, Francis.

  4. Eutaw's Finest - May 28, 2014 at 12:18 PM

Has this moron ever watched a hockey player drnk from a water bottle? They don’t put their mouth on the bottle, they squeeze it into their mouth from a ways out. Honestly I’ve never seen a player wrap their mouth around the nozzle on the water bottles…So how the hell did he get backwash in their?

    • Eutaw's Finest - May 28, 2014 at 12:18 PM

      Or there.. not their…

    • r8rbhawk - May 28, 2014 at 12:37 PM

Even if Crow were to have sprayed the guy with a water bottle from a Mites or Peewee team there would be no backwash. Hockey players learn at a young age how to drink from these water bottles so germs aren’t spread.

There are so many puns I would like to make using the last name of the Kings fan in question, however, I will refrain

  5. nj666 - May 28, 2014 at 12:18 PM

leave it to LA fans to sue over something like that. I’m sure theres no shortage of scumsucking ambulance chasing lawyers to take this “case”. If these people cant handle a hockey game, then don’t go. I’d love to have something like that happen, it gives you a story to tell. Instead he went straight to being a cry baby.

    • comeonnowguys - May 28, 2014 at 12:25 PM

Every family has an uncle of which they don’t speak.

  6. esracerx46 - May 28, 2014 at 12:26 PM

Clark Wong….Not a hockey fan. So many levels of bush league. I’m sure the guy had it coming. Kudos to Crawford.

Fans need to show a little class too, just like the Hawks fan that ripped Adam Pardy’s helmet off.

  7. buddysguys - May 28, 2014 at 12:28 PM

    what a baby

  8. tyler4richardson - May 28, 2014 at 12:32 PM

As a heckler, I would be proud if a goalie sprayed me with water. This fan is a chump.

  9. JoeAvg - May 28, 2014 at 12:32 PM

“We’ll update the post when any new details become available”

    Please don’t.

    What a jerk.

  10. bucrightoff - May 28, 2014 at 12:33 PM

When you see this and that fake Johnny Manziel lawsuit, all you can think is why is this stupidity allowed to happen? It’s a waste of time and probably money to even consider. Just laugh in their faces instead and save everyone the time.

it’s a sad day when a garbage entity such as TMZ is reporting anything related to hockey.

All the knuckleheads banging on the glass when players are batting of the puck along the boards should get thrown out as well. Mr. Wong, you did wrong.

    • thesportsjudge - May 28, 2014 at 8:26 PM

You’ve been up close to blackhawks squirting in your face? Is that listed under “gonzo” or “P.O.V?”

  19. gcbean - May 28, 2014 at 1:23 PM

Kings fan here and this Wong chick is a disgrace! You F with the players, you better expect something in return. Unfortunately there is always a turd in someone’s punch bowl, I guess this Clark Wong chick is ours and it’s time to kick her to the curb.

  23. krebsy34 - May 28, 2014 at 2:05 PM

100% this guy was laughing when Crosby got sprayed. Also It’s pretty tough to backwash a water bottle.

  24. bkg63 - May 28, 2014 at 2:15 PM

    Don’t be a wimp, Wong

  25. mkabbeko - May 28, 2014 at 2:20 PM

2 WONGS still don’t make it WHITE ! seriously these fans pounding the glass ought to get tossed .how pathetic ! that crap started in BUFFALO i do believe .i wonder what the fans would do ,or how they would like it ,if the players started spitting juicy hockers on the glass and let them watch them dribbling down for the rest of that game ?

  27. punksinplay - May 28, 2014 at 6:24 PM

This is why everyone hates the city of Los Angeles.

  28. lennaykekua - May 28, 2014 at 10:50 PM

Torts was suspended for one playoff game for THROWING a water bottle at a fan that hit her in the head. Not “squirting” water at a fan as stated here. He should have been suspended far longer at that time and or fired for that. It was an assault. Plain and simple. Think about this; if Miami Heat head coach Eric Spoelstra did the same, what would the NBA do? One game suspension? I dont think so. Safe to say Torts bad behavior has finally caught up to him. Doubtful he’ll ever be a head coach in the NHL again.
