Curtis Lazar was part of history Friday night.

Lazar, a first-round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators last June, scored the overtime winner on a deflection to send the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings through to the Memorial Cup final against the Guelph Storm on Sunday.

His goal, a nifty deflection in front of Val-d’Or goalie Antoine Bibeau, at 2:42 of the third overtime ended the longest game in Memorial Cup history.
