Online bookmaker: 2/1 odds Panthers trade first overall pick

May 21, 2014, 4:02 PM EDT

Bit of a slow afternoon as we wait for Game 2 of the Western Conference Final in Chicago, so here are some fun player props to mull over and discuss in the comment section, courtesy online bookmaker Bovada:

What team will Jason Spezza be on for game 1 of the 2014-2015 season?
Ottawa Senators 2/1
Any Other Team 1/3

What team will Dion Phaneuf be on for game 1 of the 2014-2015 season?
Toronto Maple Leafs 1/3
Any Other Team 2/1

What team will Nazem Kadri be on for game 1 of the 2014-2015 season?
Toronto Maple Leafs 1/5
Any Other Team 3/1

What team will Dave Bolland be on for game 1 of the 2014-2015 season?
Toronto Maple Leafs 1/1
Any Other Team 5/7

Will the Florida Panthers Trade the First Overall Pick in the 2014 NHL Draft?
Yes 2/1
No 1/3

On that last one, we wrote earlier today about the 2014 draft being a potentially busy one in terms of trades. And Panthers general manager Dale Tallon did say earlier this month that he would “definitely” be shopping the top pick, so maybe there’s some value there.

Actually, there may be a Tallon connection to at least two of those props, since some believe the former Blackhawks GM will pursue former ‘Hawks player Bolland in free agency.

If the Panthers trade their #1 overall pick to Toronto for Bolland then this organization deserves to fail and be relocated. Bolland is not worth a #1 pick and the Panthers need to capitalize on their oppertunity to use a #1 pick to finally have a winning season and rebuild.

Guys Bolland is a UFA this summer, he won’t be traded for anything less than a 5th round pick for his rights.

Fla would want something major for that 1st pick, it would have to be something like tyler myers and the 3rd overall pick, or something along those lines.

So the Sabres are going to trade their 2nd overall pick for the 3rd pick and then package that with Tyler Myers for the first overall pick? Hmm…it could happen.

He’s a UFA, so definitely not worth a #1 pick

Sorry buffbry, you beat me to it

I do not seriously think Bolland will be traded for a #1 pick.Lol

Boland certainly is not worth number one pick. Injury prone and on the decline. Stock up on the young talent and at the same time, sign some veterans with leadership and charecter

I wonder what the odds would be that the Rangers buy out Brad Richards

I don’t see the Panthers moving that pick at all. They are deep at C and need a potential #1 D. Ekblad is the pick and anyone is overthinking this if they feel differently, LOL. :)

Yeah, the Panthers are shopping the pick (in case if Pitts wants to move Malkin or something like this) but its almost impossible to get fair value, which makes trading the pick,………. almost impossible.

Bolland, Kadri and draft pick (1st and 5th rd) for Florida 1st overall.

Philadelphia will be the biggest suitor for that nr. 1 pick. They’re hosting the event and the hosting team always tries to make a splash.

You do realize how that is practically not possible correct?

If the Flyers drafted top 5 it would be a hard trade to make, top ten incredibly difficult… with where the Flyers draft its nearly impossible. They would have to package multiple years of first round picks and someone like jakub voracek and another.

You are out of your mind thinking Florida is trading this for pennies. This isn’t the NFL draft folks. The NHL draft is top heavy and no one trades out of the top 3 unless you are getting a great proven player +
