It’s Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final from Bell Centre in Montreal. A spot in the Stanley Cup Final is on the line in this series and for both teams it would be their first trip back since the 1990s.

Montreal hasn’t been in the Stanley Cup Final since 1993 and for New York it was 1994. Those trips each resulted in winning hockey’s ultimate prize for both teams. The first step towards trying to recapture that glory begins today.

Read our preview of Game 1 here.

Looks like Montreal left all their hate in Boston.

And for a team that can sell out their stadium for an away playoff game, these fans are ridiculously quiet.

Good first period. Kreider wake up. Hope Brass is ok. Skate skate skate. LGR!!!

Still trying to think of an advantage to living in Baltimore. … Nope. Not coming to me.

Baltimore – home of the Preakness. And home of the local NBC affiliate (WBAL-TV) pre-empting this NY – Montreal playoff game for local coverage of Preakness festivities, even though NBCSN is carrying national Preakness coverage.

WBAL is already bush-league TV, and I didn’t think they could get lower. I was wrong. WBAL=POS

Thanks, 7. I’m watching on my desktop.

      • patthehockeyfan - May 17, 2014 at 2:21 PM

P.S. Haven’t heard of Barracudas. Where is that?

Water Street Tavern = too close to my office, and I don’t want to be near there on weekends.

        Hull Street Blues = tops!

      Thanks again, 7!

Had Sunday brunch @ Hull Street. Great all around, and the best blueberry pancakes on earth!

Going to see Godzilla tonight. If not, I’d be heading to Barracudas for a crabcake. Or two. Now that your remark put me in the mood. :)

      Have a great one!

Pierre McGuire is as bad as they come. He cannot start a sentence with words other than “what a.” What a save. What a shot. What a burst of speed. What a hit. What a block. What a play. He is awful.

  5. bleedrangerblue - May 17, 2014 at 2:21 PM

    Thanks Kreider. You woke up!!!

You were supposed to kick a$$ but you got eliminated by your ultimate rival, the Montreal Canadians. Enjoy your choke. All you got left is hate.

      • infectorman - May 17, 2014 at 3:02 PM

        no hate here jimee,
just love getting montreal fans knickers in a bunch, like so many other Montreal fan posters try to do.

U bit. hook line a sinker.

        Enjoy the game! Bahahaha!!1

    Kreider!!!! Richards!!!!

  9. jimeejohnson - May 17, 2014 at 2:56 PM

Boston Bruins really choked! Canadians look terrible and Price stinks. By contrast, Lundqvist looks like his typical stopper self. Rangers will sweep this series if the Canadians play this poorly.

  10. oneil1234 - May 17, 2014 at 2:59 PM

Tampa was terrible and Montreal has always matched up good against boston no matter where each team was in the standings so it doesn’t surprise me the rangers a walking all over Montreal. Saw this coming

  11. billiam55 - May 17, 2014 at 3:00 PM

lol and everyone thought canadiens were gonna poop on NY because of past history. puff

  12. papajack1259 - May 17, 2014 at 3:11 PM

It will be long summer if the Habs play like this the emptied the tank in Boston but we shall see

  13. 7mantel - May 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM

Montreal gooning it up ! The Hab fans talked trash about the Bruins !

  14. 7mantel - May 17, 2014 at 3:21 PM

    Game OVER !

  15. matt14gg - May 17, 2014 at 3:21 PM

Pretty clear that Montreal won their Stanley Cup on Thursday night. I’d just like to make clear to the Habs and their fans…you have earned nothing yet! This idea that you’ve “earned respect” is horse sh–. All you did was win the second round. You cry constantly about “respect” or as Therrien likes to say “respeck”. Nonsense. In fact with all the whining that Dale Wiese and others did after the game about the handshake line, you actually lost even more “respeck” from the rest of the league. Most teams understand that that stuff stays between the teams and doesn’t get dragged out into the public. But Montreal can’t help itself. They spend more time feeling sorry for themselves and trying to be the NHL’s martyr that they have to cry to the world every time they don’t get their way. What a bunch of pussies. So enjoy your second round championship that no one outside of Quebec gives a sh– about…you still managed to come out of that series with even less “respeck” than you had going in. And just so we’re clear on this…YOU’VE EARNED NOTHING YET!

“R-E-S-P-E-C-K/Carey do you feel ok?…R-E-S-P-E-C-K/beg for a power play!”

  17. President Charles Logan - May 17, 2014 at 3:35 PM

it’s only one game folks relax

  18. bleedrangerblue - May 17, 2014 at 4:12 PM

Yes it’s one game. You are correct. Rangers match well with speed. Habs know this Now. Interesting game 2. Lay off Hank people, he’s won in Montreal!!!
