Doughty says Kings are ‘ready to reset’ after another seven-game series

If the New York Rangers proved anything on Saturday, it’s that a team can shake off two seven-game series and win a Game 1 on the road in the conference finals. Of course, the Los Angeles Kings won’t enjoy anywhere near as much rest as the Rangers did when they begin their series against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, so will they be able to switch gears quickly enough to avoid an early deficit?

Drew Doughty told LA Kings Insider that he believes they will … and it’s not exactly as if they have much of a choice.

“You don’t have a choice,” Doughty said. “You just have to do whatever it takes to just get back, reset, start focusing on a brand new team, forget about the win last night already and you really have no time to celebrate or anything like that. You just have to do it. That’s the bottom line. If you don’t do it, you’re going to lose the series. I think all of our guys are ready to reset. We have a few days in between games throughout the series, so we should be fine.”

The Kings dispatched the Anaheim Ducks in Game 7 of that second-round series on Friday and will face a Blackhawks team that hasn’t played since they eliminated the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. With that in mind, Chicago is likely to be better rested coming in, but perhaps Los Angeles can carry momentum into this series?

Doughty seems aware that going down in another series – particularly against the defending champions – is far from ideal. With that in mind, quickly “resetting” things is indeed ideal.

Kings are a different team then they were last year, banged up a bit though. They need to keep hitting and wear down the hawks, this will be first real test of playoffs for Chicago. The blues and struggling Ryan miller don’t count

That’s what the Kings tried to do last year (and every year) and were badly outskated and out matched. When are teams going to realize you can’t “wear down the Hawks” ? You want more hits? Great, that means the Blackhawks have the puck and are putting it to the back of the net.

Good luck Kings fans, hope its a great series.

That’s how the Kings did it when they won the Cup, so I wouldn’t exactly call it a bad strategy.

A 6 game series against Minnesota doesn’t count either?

Friend, while there’s no doubt that you ‘mean’ well, please do us a favor and just ‘stand down’ eh ? :)

Question: What is going on with the Chicago Blackhawks?

Answer: “these rustics are so inept … it almost takes the honor out of victory”

*** this message is for fans of the ‘glorious’ SC Champion LA Kings only ***

Another night and another night of losses by these so-called WC powerhouses like Chicago and Anaheim … and like we were ever worried eh ? The bottom line friends is that as the hour of ‘true’ battle now fast approaches, these pretenders and wannabes are starting to fall by the wayside faster than a bunch of rats fleeing from a sinking ship ! As you know, in previous testimony here at PHT going back as far as last September, I ‘personally’ proclaimed that we Kings would be returning to the ‘high ground’ come this spring to reclaim that which is ours. Yes sir ! And now as God is my witness, that is ‘exactly’ what is coming to be ! Of course we don’t know yet who it is that we’ll be facing ‘up there’ where heroes are made and legends are born. However that’s completely immaterial, as ‘ours’ is an enterprise driven not only by superior skill, conviction and aplomb, but more importantly, by supreme righteousness and divine providence !

“a King’s army is on the way which will neither ‘accept’ nor ‘grant’ any quarter” …

      GO KINGS GO !!!! … AND ‘MAKE READY’ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

This is by far the weirdest post I’ve read on here…and I’m a Kings fan.

I dont know what Kings fans told you that, we’re on our revenge tour.

  5. blomfeld - May 18, 2014 at 1:06 AM

So said a ‘romantic’ friend of mine last night in the wake of our glorious victory over the Anaheim Ducks (ie: my friend is a ‘hot’ forty-something executive for a major mainland Chinese corporation and her name is ‘Kitty’ … or Lei Fan Gu if you prefer). Now while Kitty doesn’t have the luxury of ‘learned’ NHL hockey like we do, she does nonetheless possess the ‘innate’ ability to see a ‘winner’ where others are blind. And in that context my friend Kitty stated quite unequivocally last night … “the LA Kings are ‘sexy’ and they’re number one, just like you comrade Blomfeld !”

    GO KINGS GO !!!!!!

STFU u Cali weirdo. Hawks have had the Kings number during regular season. But most of us know that don’t mean much coming into the Western Conference Finals. Hawks in 5! BOOK IT

  7. mexiam - May 18, 2014 at 2:50 AM

Hahahah oh blom, just when I thought you couldn’t get any stranger. I think we all know most folk on here can’t handle your rants about our “glorious” kings, but I myself enjoy them even if I may or may not agree with you all the time. Anyways I do support the part where we say, GO KINGS GO!
Bring on the hawks! It’s gonna be a great series

    • machosasquatcho - May 18, 2014 at 12:33 PM

Aaaaaaaaaaaand this is the, what, 12th or 13th alternate account you have, blomfeld? You’re pathetic and all you do is sit around posting on this forum all day. Get a job.

  8. dontbsuchapuss - May 18, 2014 at 6:30 AM

Kings are a streaky lucky team won’t be long and gaborik will get hurt and god for bid if the all might quick gets a bump or two in the series. Hawks will shut them down and expose the crap defense the kings have doughty is just a baby like Crosby always whining to the officials

    • dannymac17 - May 18, 2014 at 1:22 PM

gabby will get hurt? are you hoping for that?

      shut up.

you hawks fans are getting way too cocky.

    • cybernetikghost - May 18, 2014 at 3:16 PM

Usually when you have the better team you don’t need to talk so much isht about the opponent.

As a Hawk fan, I do respect the Kings and they do worry me. To the one fan that commented that the Kings are not the Blues .. Yes indeed you are correct. BUT … The Hawks are not the Sharks or Ducks, and if your Kings fall too far behind, the defending champs know how to step in your throat and close you out
