Tonight on NBCSN, it’s the Los Angeles Kings hosting the Anaheim Ducks at 9:30 p.m. ET. Following are some game notes, as compiled by the NHL on NBC research team:

• After the road team won each of the previous four games in this series, the Anaheim Ducks won Game 5 at home Monday, taking a three-to-two series lead. The Ducks are now one win away from reaching their first Conference Final since they won the Stanley Cup in 2006-07. The Kings are in the midst of their second three-game losing streak this postseason after starting the playoffs with three straight losses. Sandwiched in between their losing streaks was a six-game winning streak.

• Ducks goaltender John Gibson stopped 39 of Los Angeles’ 42 shots to earn his second consecutive playoff victory, becoming the second rookie goalie to win multiple games for the Ducks this postseason after Frederik Andersen won three games in the First Round against the Stars. Anaheim is the first NHL team to have more than one rookie goaltender to record at least two victories in a single playoff year. Gibson, the 20-year-old American goalie, now has a 1.50 GAA and .957 save% this postseason. (Elias Sports Bureau.)

• The Kings outshot the Ducks for the third game in a row, and fourth in the series, yet came away with their third consecutive loss. Over the past three games, the Kings have outshot the Ducks by an average of nearly 14 shots per game (13.67 shots/game). On Monday, Los Angeles outshot Anaheim 42-24 (+18), including a 14-2 differential in the third period.

• Ducks forward Devante Smith-Pelly scored twice Monday, raising his playoff total to five. The 2010 second round pick has more than quadrupled his goal-scoring rate from the regular season this postseason and currently leads Anaheim in goals in the playoffs. Both Smith-Pelly and Gibson spent most of the season with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League, who are down 3-2 to the St. John’s IceCaps in the AHL Eastern Conference Semifinals. “Norfolk’s not happy,” Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said jokingly Monday. “Those guys have come up and all of them played such big roles … the youth is really carrying us right now. They’re solid NHL players.”

Smith-Pelly this season: 2013-14 regular season: 2 goals in 19 games (.11 goals/game)

2013-14 postseason: 5 goals in 10 games (.5 goals/game)

• Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick helped the Kings stave off elimination in the first round, guiding them to four consecutive victories against the San Jose Sharks. In his career, Quick is 6-3 in elimination games, including a 4-0 mark this postseason.

Quick in Elimination Games This Postseason Record: 4-0 GAA: 1.25 Save percentage: .963

• Kings forward Marian Gaborik scored Los Angeles’ final two goals in Game 5, increasing his playoff-leading tally to eight. The 32-year-old is one goal away from matching his playoff career high from his first trip to the playoffs in 2002-03, when he netted nine with the Minnesota Wild.

• Both teams were 1 for 3 on the power play in Game 5. Anaheim has scored the most power play goals this postseason (12) and has the best scoring rate among the remaining teams (28.6%). In their last seven games, the Ducks are 10 for 26 on the power play (38.4%) and have scored a power play goal in each of the last four games.
