The mother of New York Rangers forward Martin St. Louis passed away after the effects of heart attack on Thursday, the Tampa Tribune reports.

France St. Louis, 63, suffered the heart attack while in hospital, where she passed. The news was confirmed by the Lightning late Thursday night.

St. Louis and the Rangers are scheduled to play Game 5 of their second-round series against the Penguins in Pittsburgh tomorrow evening. The Blueshirts also confirmed news of the passing on Thursday night, but provided no update or information about St. Louis’ status.

This is PHT, where anything and everything will get downvotes. It’s a shame, but it’s just the way it is

All of the best to Marty and the rest of his family, losing a mother is hard.

Anyone else think its weird that it was the Lightning who confirmed this report instead of the Rangers?

    • nothanksimdriving123 - May 9, 2014 at 1:42 AM

Indeed, condolences to Marty and her other loved ones.
The brief post says both teams confirmed the news. I tried the link to the Trib story but it offered no useful info as to where the woman died. The reporter managed merely: “in the hospital”, with no suggestion as to what city, state, country.
Suffice to say Marty is having one very awful week.

Thoughts and sympathies to the St. Louis family.

May wonderful memories give Martin and his family strength in this most difficult time.

And only days before mother’s day. That’s rough

That’s very sad news. At 63? So young. If the Rangers have any class at all, they let him leave the team for game 5. If the rangers win, he’s back for game 6.

95 ,We all know how you hate the NYR’s but to suggest they make him play is totally uncalled for.Teams always give the players the option of playing or not , I think you know that. Enjoy the SC PLAYOFFS

Did you bother to read what I wrote? Maybe I’ll dummy it down for you. Do to allow him to play game five. Even if he wants to play. For game six, he can come back if he wants.

I read what you wrote, and for your dummy down remark ( for whatever reason ) goes to show a sharp tongue is no indication of a keen mind.

You have to be one of the most ignorant people on PHT. That is all…

No!! So sad! Losing a parent is devastating. No matter what age. All I gotta say is play with a heavy heart. She would want you to play.
