Showtime: Patrick Kane goes top shelf with the backhand

May 3, 2014, 12:10 AM EDT

Patrick Kane. Wow.

The shifty and highly skilled Chicago Blackhawks forward put his talents on full display, beat Ilya Bryzgalov top shelf on the short side to give his team a 3-2 lead over the Minnesota Wild in the third period of Friday’s game.

  2. comeonnowguys - May 3, 2014 at 12:25 AM

So filthy it gave your computer malware.

    • r8rbhawk - May 3, 2014 at 12:26 AM

the video of that goal will definitely go viral

      • flyerspsu - May 3, 2014 at 12:33 AM

probably not to be honest, the only nhl plays that tend to go viral are the dirty stuff like brawls, goalie fights, KOs, bad cheapshots etc.

The kid is talented, but will someone PLEASE give him a haircut

    • kiki118115 - May 3, 2014 at 1:18 AM

He grows a mullet during the playoffs. He’ll cut it at the end of the post season.

  4. nicofthenorthstar - May 3, 2014 at 12:32 AM

As good as toews is, I would take Kane. That kind of offensive dynamism, creativity, finishing touch is so hard to find. Maybe I’m crazy.

    • flyerspsu - May 3, 2014 at 12:36 AM

you’re not crazy, but when it comes to all around game I think Toews is the far better player, hes arguably top 3 in the world

  5. idonthavethebloodyoucrave - May 3, 2014 at 12:34 AM

LOL 100 million for a -2 is well spent!

I’m shocked that Suter was on the ice for that! Shocked I tell ya!

    • credible316 - May 3, 2014 at 1:38 AM

Actually it’s 98 million Mr. Idonthaveateamintheplayoffs

      • idonthavethebloodyoucrave - May 3, 2014 at 1:41 AM

How’d you like the game tonight? =-)

      • credible316 - May 3, 2014 at 1:46 AM

I liked it. Both teams played well, one obviously better than the other. Can’t wait for game 2.

What’s your team up to this off season?

      • idonthavethebloodyoucrave - May 3, 2014 at 1:49 AM

Still haven’t landed back into the atmosphere I see …

      • credible316 - May 3, 2014 at 1:55 AM

Oh I love Atmosphere! Especially their earlier stuff. You should check out Overcast!

      • idonthavethebloodyoucrave - May 3, 2014 at 1:58 AM

Better hope there are no overcasts for your upcoming golf season …

      • credible316 - May 3, 2014 at 2:05 AM

I sure hope we don’t have to play you guys on the course. You guys have had at least an extra month of practice 😉

      • idonthavethebloodyoucrave - May 3, 2014 at 2:14 AM

When summer comes and since another Minnesota team will have failed again, I’m guessing you will probably have to be cited a handicap, out of pity of course, while you collect yourself?

Geez … you’d think you’d be numb by now?

  6. hardkor07mn - May 3, 2014 at 12:36 AM

Nicstar- your not crazy. He’s flashy is a tremendous talent offensively. Defensively is a whole different story. The reason Toews is the better player is because he can score and may be the best defensive center in the league. All JMO but I think most would agree

  7. jpat2424 - May 3, 2014 at 12:53 AM

I have a man crush on Kane and Bloodyoucrave!! Go Hawks !!

  8. hardkor07mn - May 3, 2014 at 12:53 AM

Crave- you really are a d bag. Seriously you need help

  9. 950003cups - May 3, 2014 at 1:24 AM

Something confuses me when the words “highlight goal” and “Ilya Bryzgalov” are mentioned in the same sentence.

    • credible316 - May 3, 2014 at 1:43 AM

You could have put a 4×6 sheet of plywood in net and it would still have gone in.

      • 950003cups - May 3, 2014 at 2:20 AM

or Bryzgalov could’ve came out 12 inches

  10. cfos00 - May 3, 2014 at 1:37 AM

That goal was ridiculous. And how many other players would have even tried that, let alone pulled it off? From the carry up to splitting defenders to backhand top shelf. Just silly.

  11. credible316 - May 3, 2014 at 1:39 AM

    SMH…Good Grief

  12. feedmetherock - May 3, 2014 at 8:36 AM

If you slow it down, he is actually offsides on the play. He pulled the puck towards center ice as his feet entered the zone. Too close to call in real-time. Sick goal nonetheless.

  13. sixchr - May 3, 2014 at 10:46 AM

I was laying in bed watching the game and literally jumped up and my jaw fell open watching this goal. Absolutely filthy. I would kill to have Patrick Kane on the Bruins. He’s easily one of my favorite players to watch.

  14. nearlyneo - May 3, 2014 at 11:43 AM

Great looking goal, but no question he was offside. Pause the video above at either 0:10 or 0:37 and see for yourself.
