Kings’ Regehr might be injured

May 3, 2014, 9:38 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Kings managed the rare feat of coming back from a 0-3 deficit, yet Justin Williams made it clear that it came at a cost. There’s some concern that the Kings might struggle in the “battle of attrition” that the playoffs can often be, especially if Robyn Regehr is injured as many fear.

Update: This appears to be the closest we’ll get to an announcement regarding Regehr, at least from the Kings:

Missing time could mean a serious ailment for the rugged defenseman:

The Kings are already dealing with the loss of some hard-hitting defensive work with Willie Mitchell on the mend. While they have other options – Jeff Schultz almost played in Game 1 – it might not be the ideal situation for Los Angeles:

At least Drew Doughty might be up for the task of increased ice time, though:

Is it too early to say “Be careful what you wish for?”
