Video: Simmonds nets hat trick for Flyers in Game 6 (Update)

Apr 29, 2014, 8:55 PM EST

After setting a career-high with 29 goals this season, Philadelphia Flyers power forward Wayne Simmonds had been kept mostly under wraps (one goal, one assist) by the New York Rangers through the first five games of their first-round series. So far, he’s giving his team a real chance to make this series go the distance with Game 6’s first two goals.

They’re both basically trademark Simmonds goals, as the 25-year-old displays his knack for cleaning up rebounds and loose pucks in the “dirty” areas:

Update: Simmonds scored yet another goal to give himself a hat trick:

As a bonus, here’s Erik Gustafsson‘s tally right out of the penalty box:

Rangers are getting dominated. The Flyers are finding a way to get past the five goalies and are exposing Henry bad. Time to put Cam in to stop the bleeding.

Living in the past like most Pitt fans. Dont forget all your super bowl wins back in the day. Cindy “no show” Crosby will be golfing soon. He has 1 more series to cry to the refs after every whistle.

Bruins/Flyers would be a great ECF!

      • elmerbrownelmerbrown - Apr 29, 2014 at 10:14 PM

I was thinking that but the BRUINS are def team to beat

  9. numbcracker2109 - Apr 29, 2014 at 9:54 PM

Iginla probably has two or three good years left, but earlier this year I was pining for the Bruins to make a play for Simmonds, back when the Flyers looked all done. Him, Krejci and Lucic on a first line? Forget about it.

This is why the Flyers are a tougher match for Pitt: size and grit up front against guys like Martin, Letang and Niskanen. Orpik is ok, if your undersized and not looking, and engelland is tough but they don’t make up for the other three.

Rangers never accounted for Simmonds. He parked Next to Hanks right & at the Rangers lunch all night.

Ranger fans get your revenge on these dirt scum bags tonight!! I know it takes 3 brainless Philthy fans to take down 1 man, turn the tables tonight boys!
