Sharks’ Niemi pulled in second straight game

Apr 26, 2014, 11:21 PM EDT

San Jose Sharks head coach Todd McLellan has pulled goalie Antti Niemi for a second consecutive game.

The L.A. Kings, facing elimination again in Game 5 of this first-round series, built up a 3-0 lead over the Sharks in the second period of Saturday’s game, with Jeff Carter‘s goal 22 seconds into the middle frame ending Niemi’s night. He allowed three goals on 19 shots faced.

Making matters worse for the Sharks is the absence of defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who appeared to be injured when he took a jab to the back of the head from Kings’ forward Jarret Stoll in the first period.

Vlasic has yet to return to the game.

    interesting……veeeeery interesting…

on the other note, i don’t like seeing people getting injured, i hope he feels better soon.

Stoll injures Vlasic and grabs onto Thorntons legs after he loses the faceoff. Good to see the boys in teal let the Kings do whatever they want. Wish this team had the balls Roys Avs are throwing on tables. The balls JQ is grabbing on the bench. The “balls” Perry is getting speared in.

Anyways what im trying to say is this team never physically fights back. They never really push back. They say “whatever, we have the series lead… Oh well.. Sorry fans who paid all this money to watch us at least play decent”.

Exactly what te “Shark Tank” sounded like tonight. For a team that was up 3-0, the Sharks look mighty desperate. The boys are gassed. Especially the aging Dmen.

What’s going on buddy? I thought the Kings were supposed to be golfing by now? Haha

It’s not that they never do it. They were hugely physical in the first 3 games. When they drop their physicality, they lost their place in the game. The kings deserve a little credit for playing the better game.

That’s it. Niemi’s done. Stalock for game 6 ! I am so worried now that we have to go back to LA, maybe

Pathetic effort by the sharks in front of their home fans. Almost embarrassed to be a fan of this team right now, easily the worst I’ve seen them play all year

    • nightfireop - Apr 27, 2014 at 12:00 AM

what you mean their first 2 game blitz was not enough?

    • nightfireop - Apr 27, 2014 at 12:02 AM

dude, there’s still 20 mins left in the game, anything can happen.

      • faulkingallstar - Apr 27, 2014 at 12:16 AM

no you need 4 wins to win a series, sharks think that just because they have 3-0 series lead they can stop playing. No wonder this team disappoints year in and year out in the playoffs.

If Nemo didn’t let in 3 soft goals, this is a 0-0 game with tons of fight from the Sharks. If Tmac can’t see Nemo needs to sit, theres a big problem behind the bench.

If the Sharks don’t want Niemi anymore then send him back to Chicago. We’ll take him.

    • nightfireop - Apr 27, 2014 at 12:36 AM

that’s too generous of you, i think sharks should keep nemo for the rest of his career.

we’ll see. even if we win tonight, we are still down 3 games to 2 so….

    Kings 3 / Siegfried & Roy 0

Too funny, as the brutal realization of ‘that’ which is meant to be now starts to resonate with the ‘hapless’ tropical fish from Josey ! As for all of you electronic ‘rats & sheep’ here at PHT who ‘shamelessly’ pounced upon me and my fellow King’s fans only a few days ago … well then, what say you now ? :)
