Marchand was so relieved Boston won, he ‘kissed’ Iginla

Apr 25, 2014, 12:05 AM EDT

It’s funny how a win or loss can change moments when a player “chokes” or becomes a “goat” into something his teammates can merely rib him for.

There are probably people who will treasure Boston Bruins pest Brad Marchand flubbing a few shots on Thursday beyond tonight, but for most, it’s likely a moment in time that will be forgotten. Jarome Iginla‘s game-winning goal gave the Bruins the last laugh against the Detroit Red Wings, something that wasn’t lost on Marchand:

Sadly, there’s no photo of evidence of the smooch, so we’ll need to leave that to enterprising Photoshop users. Here’s video of the moments that could have been far, far more embarrassing for Marchand if Boston didn’t win:

Much like Steven Stamkos‘ own-goal, it was a mishap that didn’t mean that much in the grand scheme of things.

Good for him. Glad Jason Collins made it easier for him to come out.

Poor Skankouver fan. Blatantly bitter about the Bruins turning his franchise from contender, to pretender, to punching bag (literally) to punch line. Couldn’t have happened to a better bunch.

    • drewzducks - Apr 25, 2014 at 2:50 AM

Apparently Skankouver has full use of his thumbs, the only digits Burrows didn’t devour.

Why should crusty date a new boy when your muthaflugga is in her usual, prone position, willing and waiting as always.

  8. bobcat82 - Apr 25, 2014 at 1:46 AM

H0M0. He probably would have done this regardless of the fact that he blew a goal.

  12. Hard to BeLeaf - Apr 25, 2014 at 2:12 AM

Who knew two Bruins kissing would get Canucks fans so excited?!!!

It’s hard not to laugh at them when they pretend they aren’t still butthurt over the loss to Boston in the finals THREE years ago.

    • imleftcoast - Apr 25, 2014 at 2:45 PM

Thank for Canucks fans that there are Leafs fans – blowing a three goal lead in Game 7 followed an even more spectacular collapse this season. The Canuck season was horrible, but the Leafs bellyflop raised the spirits in Vancouver in a way no one saw coming. Talk about buttsore BeLeaf.

      • Hard to BeLeaf - Apr 26, 2014 at 9:18 AM

LOL Dawww… poor Vancouver fans. Does the truth hurt?

If ragging on the Leafs helps you feel better about your three year old hurting butt… then by all means have at it. You think I give a crap if people trash THIS Leafs team? They deserve it. Your pathetic little rant here only proves my point.

And there’s nothing to be butthurt over about Toronto losing to Boston. Was Toronto’s 1st trip to the post season in years. Was most of the teams first career playoff series… and the team that was supposed to be swept by Boston in 4 took the would-be Conference champs to Game 7 OT.

That’s not nearly as embarrassing as a President’s trophy team getting shutout 4-0 on home ice… then blaming getting shutout on your goalie… then burning your city down in a loser riot.

Three years later and you’re STILL not over it. THAT is some serious butthurt. Why don’t you ravenously thumb me down with your multiple accounts againt… maybe that’ll convince me you Canucks aren’t completely obsessed with Boston.

  13. matt14gg - Apr 25, 2014 at 6:11 AM

Marchand was heard to scream, “Stop moving the net!!!”

  14. dropthepuckeh - Apr 25, 2014 at 7:02 AM

There was a report on twitter after the game that while walking onto the team plane following the Bruins win, Marchand missed the open door and hit the side of the plane…

  18. infectorman - Apr 25, 2014 at 8:38 AM

72.9 articles on the Queens and Hammer Heads and nothing on the pure domination (no sexual innuendo intended there, given the slant of this article and it’s predictable morons from the Left coast posts) that Boston laid unto ye olde Wings…
How deflating it must be to have your arses handed to you at the Joe 2 game s in a row.
Clearly, the Wings not in the same class as Boston

  19. cadlow - Apr 25, 2014 at 8:44 AM

Steven Drews agent just released a statement saying “not to worry he’s getting Marshon new contact lenses”

    .Boston fans should get it.

  20. gallyhatch - Apr 25, 2014 at 10:51 AM

It’s more than a little satisfying seeing some of the usual trolls further expose themselves as juvenile morons by piling on the gay jokes. Granted, James O’Brien is chumming the water, (which is to be expected with him being the bitter Penguins fan he is) but it is funny to see these fools take the bait.

I suppose the saying is true, you can’t fix stupid.

    • hockey412 - Apr 25, 2014 at 1:43 PM

I think you only object when the story is about the Bruins, though.

      • gallyhatch - Apr 25, 2014 at 2:52 PM

Not a bad point, but I’ll counter with the fact that I don’t really comment too much on non-Bruin related articles. (not that that has any bearing on the immaturity related to gay jokes. . . is that really what you’re trying to argue?)

Regarding your opinion however, you refer to Rinaldo as ‘Retardo’ and have been trolling the Bruins articles consistently ever since the Penguins got eliminated last year. That’s what I know about you.

Acceptance is the price of freedom, try to act like a well adjusted human being and move on from last year’s loss. (seriously, you don’t see me trolling the Blackhawks do you? Grow up)

Or don’t and keep acting like a child, I really don’t give a damn. It’s not me that’s making you look stupid, you do that to yourself on a regular basis.

PS, good luck to your Pens tomorrow night. I know the Bruins would have to get past Detroit & Montreal 1st, but I would really love to see a rematch of last year’s ECF.

      • hockey412 - Apr 25, 2014 at 3:07 PM

I comment on a good many of the articles, I enjoy them and the banter. If you didn’t like the Retardo joke, I do apologize for offending you, and would offer that there are probably worse comments (and probably better, to your point). Thicker skin may potentially help you. My sickness over what the B’s get away with has NOTHING to do with last year. Last night’s game was enough to make me sick, and every single B’s game I watch where they are consistently allowed to get away with murder (hope you didn’t feel like I insulted any murderers out there with that comment). B’s fans downplay anyone that questions why they are allowed to get away with so much by classifying them as haters, one of them the other day said screw everyone in Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Montreal…but wake up bud…your team is just dirty. It’s not just those three city’s fans that are scratching our head here. No honor. If it offends you, I don’t care. I’m not here to stroke your ego, you have the rest of the B’s support group on here for that. I simply raise the other side of the matter.

      • gallyhatch - Apr 25, 2014 at 4:22 PM

I know. You think the Bruins are the dirtiest team in the league. You’ve been telling us for almost a year. You’re also a fan of Pittsburgh, a team with its own dirty players. You’ve defended players like Matt Cooke and James Neal in the past. Your drivel is hypocritical nonsense. I don’t routinely cry about Pittsburgh or Montreal, because I have enough common sense to realize the Bruins have some questionable players just like those teams. It’s not rocket science here.

If you want to call me out for things that OTHER Bruins fans say, I think that’s a little silly. I speak for myself & myself only.

Do the Bruins play on the edge, and at times cross the line? Of course they do, I’m not delusional about it. You don’t see me defending Lucic’s chop from last Friday, I condemned it. I hate when Marchand pulls his diving crap and makes questionable hits on people. I don’t defend that crap and I wish they would play the game the right way.

For you to be complaining about them as frequently as you do though, speaks volumes about how much the Bruins are in your head.

You say you troll bruins articles because it’s fun to rile up the fans or some foolish crap like that. I say you do it out of bitterness over last year’s sweep. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. I mantain my stance however because I never noticed your user name before that series ended.

One way or the other, you’re obsessed with the Bruins, and it makes you look childish.

PS, if I had thicker skin, that still wouldn’t have made your ‘Retardo’ comment any less moronic or immature. I don’t quite understand how you think it would.

        Good luck tomorrow night buddy!

      • hockey412 - Apr 28, 2014 at 11:05 AM

Eh, it’s not trolling, I just think it’s disgusting that their type of play isn’t penalized when it’s clearly illegal. Yes, they cross the line, and no, it’s not penalized. Whether it’s Jacob’s billions at work or not, it needs wiped out of the league. They are a good team, no doubt, but the things that do not get called, which, more times than not, seem to be what the fans really like to see, need adjusted. At all costs. It is disgusting.

      • gallyhatch - Apr 28, 2014 at 7:34 PM

To suggest they don’t get penalized is simply non-factual. If you want to say the refs let them get away with more than other teams, well that’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it.

You & I do agree on one thing, I’m also tired of the dirty play from all the usual suspects.
This goes for every team in the NHL however. If you think the Bruins are the only team with players like this, I would suggest you’re not watching enough hockey.

One other thing I would suggest is that if the Bruins were such a scourge on the NHL and Jacobs actually was fixing the games, I would think more hockey people would be talking about it, not just a few conspiracy theorists from certain markets. That’s not meant to be a dig, it’s an honest rebuttal to your comment.

I understand your hatred of Jacobs, that’s actually something else we agree on. I can’t NOT root for the Bruins though, I’ve cheered for them my whole life. Greedy dirtbag owner & all.

Enjoy tonight’s game. I hope Pitt, NY, SJ & COL all wrap up their series ASAP so we can move on to the next round.
