Devils defenseman Mark Fayne “underwent successful surgery to the core muscle of his left groin” today, according to New Jersey president/general manager Lou Lamoriello.

A rehabilitation period of eight to ten weeks is expected, though whether Fayne remains a member of the Devils is uncertain. The 26-year-old is an unrestricted free agent who had four goals and seven assists in 72 games this past season.

Fayne was a fifth-round draft pick of the Devils in 2005. A product of Providence College, his most recent contract paid him $2.6 million over two years.

The rest of the NHL fans are talking about playoff line ups or draft positions.

Devils fans get to talk about Mark Fayne’s groins! We have no playoffs or a decent draft spot.

Sucks to be the only team in the east that didnt get to the playoffs with Jagr on the roster…
In all seriousness though. Devils have some work to do this off season. Does Lou make a coaching change? Any bright prospects in the AHL for them? Is Schiender going to pan out? Curious to see where they stand next season.

I believe you meant 4094cups. You’re a worse fan. Every Devils fan knows it was 1940. As the old chant went:

    Clap Clap Clap-Clap-Clap
    Clap Clap Clap-Clap-Clap
    Clap Clap Clap-Clap-Clap
    Clap Clap Clap-Clap-Clap

Then those bastards in Vancouver choked in a game seven and ruined the chant.
