Video: Ducks’ Getzlaf, Stars’ Roussel trade punches

Apr 21, 2014, 11:57 PM EDT

Not sure what the Anaheim Ducks will think of captain Ryan Getzlaf trading punches with Dallas Stars’ forward Antoine Roussel during the second period of Monday’s Game 3.

The two began jousting after a stoppage of play late in the period. Getzlaf, of course, is wearing a guard to protect his jaw after he took a puck to the face in the series opener, causing a massive cut and swollen lip.

Getzlaf and Roussel were each assessed roughing penalties, although somehow, out of the entire scrum in this game, Roussel ended up with the additional minor.

    Wow
have to give getzlaf credit for not backing down and not taking any sh$t
could you imagine getting a right hook in the same spot where he took the puck ?
    Ouch

Looks like it will be open season on Benn and Seguin . . .

The difference is the Stars have gone about agitating Perry and Getzlaf in a tactical way and Anaheim has openly come out now and said they’ll be targeting their star players. Not smart… Could lead to Dallas PP’s.

They can drop Benn and Seguin when they have the puck on their stick. They can do it within the rules . . . Dallas is clearly targeting the Ducks’s stars and the refs didn’t intervene. Maroon was skating next to Benn and got a 10. As long as the refs watch both sides . . .

They should be targeting them within the rules anyways? Not sure how this changes that, they are the two best players on Dallas they should always be the focus. The Ducks were down 3-0 late in the game when Maroon hits Seguin away from the puck then starts beaking with Benn trying to rustle some feathers. A good move by Maroon I suppose by a veteran ref at ice level sees what’s happening and sees he is up to no good and makes a decision to have hit the showers early instead of allow the game to get out of hand late when the result seems to be determined.

It is a series, not one game. The play again tomorrow. Maroon sent a message for next game. Nothing wrong with that.

Ducks have been targeting the Stars all along last night they got some of their own medicine. And ducks were grabbing and holding sticks the whole 1st period w no calls. I was there the refs let the ducks get away with everything. Hope Jamie decks anyone who puts a target on him or Tyler.

You guys do realize that Getzlaf threw the first punch, right? Don’t go out there on the ice to play a game of hockey if you can’t take what you dish out.
